Pre-Draft Outlook

The Celtics ran it back, but came up short in their attempt to defend their championship. Along the way, star forward Jayson Tatum suffered a torn Achilles tendon that will keep him out for (at least) most of next season. That affects Boston’s status as a title contender for 2025-26, though its contention window should extend well beyond that.

The Way to Go

The Celtics’ most important summer business will be deciding what to do with their veterans. Al Horford and Luke Kornet are unrestricted free agents, while Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis have deals that the Celtics may shop around. With their Draft picks, they could be looking to replenish their frontline, with Rasheer Fleming, Yaxel Lendeborg, Maxime Raynaud and Adou Thiero being bigs that could be available late in the first round or early in the second.
