Pre-Draft Outlook
The Blazers missed the playoffs for the fourth straight season, but finally took a real step forward, seeing the league’s fourth biggest jumps in both winning percentage and point differential per 100 possessions from 2023-24 to ’24-25. The improvement was driven mostly by a young core, with Portland leading the league in the percentage of their minutes (32%) that came from second-year players.
The Way to Go
The Blazers still don’t have the guy that they’re going to build everything around. So while they have several young and useful players, they should select the best player available (no matter the position) with the 11th pick. That could be someone like Carter Bryant, Egor Demin, Kasparas Jakucionis, Collin Murray-Boyles or Derik Queen.
