Overview
Born in Serbia, Bogoljub Marković started his professional career by signing with Mega Basket in 2023 but was loaned to OKK Beograd for the 2023-24 campaign. During that season, Marković averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists, leading the league in boards and earning First-Team All-League honors. He initially entered the 2024 NBA Draft but later withdrew and played for Mega Basket in 2024-25, averaging 14 points, 7 boards, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals/blocks. Marković posted 54/38/76 shooting splits on 8.9 field goal attempts, 2.8 3-point tries and 4.2 free throw trips per game. Marković has also starred in international play. He led Serbia’s U18 squad to gold at the 2023 FIBA European Championship, averaging 14 points, 7 boards and 2 assists en route to All-Star honors. Marković notably made his Serbian senior national team debut during the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers at 19 years old.
Analysis
Even at 6-foot-11, Marković’s preferred position is on the wing. He has a great feel for the game and is extremely fluid for his size. Marković’s jumper will play at the next level, plus he happily and effectively attacks poor closeouts when defenses start to take away his 3-point shot. He’s also willing to find the open man when double- or triple-teamed. Marković has the length and instincts to be a rim protector at the NBA level, but needs to work on his perimeter defense. Most of Marković’s defensive highlights come as a secondary defender, so there’s hope he could be a plus-defender in the right scheme.
Projection
Marković still has plenty of time to fill out his frame, but there wasn’t a single player in the NBA who stood at least 6-foot-8 and weighed less than 200 pounds during the 2024-25 campaign. Markovic’s skill set is reminiscent of a blend between guys like Franz Wagner (6-foot-10, 220 pounds), Lauri Markkanen (7 feet, 240 pounds), Chet Holmgren (7-foot-1, 207 pounds) and Santi Aldama (7 feet, 216 pounds). Wagner, Markkanen and Holmgren are among the best players on their respective teams, while Aldama has carved out a consistent offensive role off Memphis’ bench, so reaching that level is a more realistic scenario for Marković. Another easy comparison to make, given Marković’s frame and birthplace, is Aleksej Pokusevski (7 feet, 210 pounds), who struggled to stick in the NBA after being selected with the No. 17 overall pick by the Thunder in 2020.
